Book Trailer competition

The GFL is running a Book Trailer competition during Term 4.

The prize is an iTunes voucher.

Entries must be in by the end of Week 8 – 30th November 2012

Entry is open to students of Mentone Grammar only.

The Examples:
Michael Pryor – Hour of Need

Pros – copyright free images and music used; good choice of music; good choice of images; title information is very clear; author made it himself.
Cons – Too long between images – a bit boring when it should be exciting; video is too long (2 mins);
no credits for sources at the end.

Garth Nix and Sean Williams – TroubleTwisters
Pros – Good length (40 secs), excellent images/ video; good use of font; good choice of music; fast-paced and exciting.
Cons – Transitions are too quick (can’t read the text before it changes); no credits for images or music.

The Rules:

No longer than one minute/ 60 seconds.

If you use someone else’s work (including music, videos or photos) then you MUST acknowledge their work at the end of your trailer.

If you use copyrighted works, or do not acknowledge your sources, then your trailer will not be shown on this website.

Copyright free music, images and video are available on the web. Search for a subject and add Creative Commons to your search words.

The prize is – $50 for a single-creator entry, or two $30 vouchers for a two-creator entry. No more than two creators per video.

Trailers must be given to Mrs Farquharson before 4pm on 30th November. You can – put your trailer on a USB stick, or upload it to YouTube (remember the copyright rule!!!) and email the link to Mrs F.

The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into (that means don’t ask the judges to pick your video, or bug them if you don’t win).

Today 7G spent some time hearing about ways that they can be in the running to win $1000 in the Random House Teen Book Video Awards. We spoke about using copyright-free images and music, and then the boys settled down to read the some of the books.
