Terry Denton visits Bayview

Last Friday it was Perspective drawingvery exciting to welcome one of Australia’s most loved authors and illustrators to the Bayview campus to work with Year 5 and 6 students.  The grade five students fired question after question at Terry as he outlined his career so far. He thoroughly entranced them all with the skill of his drawing.  More than one student was heard to say ‘wow’ as a few lines on the blank page soon told a story.  Immediately following this session the Finlay Anderson library was swamped with students at lunchtime trying to emulate his perspective drawing skills.    After lunch the Grade 6 students were in for the same treat.  Amongst the feedback for that session were comment like: Isabella’ s,  ‘That was awesome.’   Kim’s, ‘Funny.’  Arabella’s, ‘Creative, amazing. What a great imagination!’  Kim’s, ‘He can draw 3D pictures with just lines.’ Madison’s, ‘Looks like he was putting blotches on the paper but it turned out so cool.’  In the last session of the day a very lucky workshop group participated in a very ‘hands on’ activity with Terry.  A good time was had by all – including Terry!
