Inspiring students to write goes hand in hand with efforts to inspire reading at MGS. So when the first competition of the year “Write a Valentine’s Day Poem’ got underway in February, it was great to get lots of entries. Each of the poems expressed heartfelt thoughts. The three lucky year 11 winners each won a Village Movie pass!
As Valentine’s Day fell on the first day of the ‘Random Acts of Kindness Week’, an annual MGS event, senior students working late that night enjoyed a special treat when one of our Teacher Librarians baked some little heart shaped cookies and shared them with students. The looks of delight and surprise on the faces of students added to the cool atmosphere of deep concentration that occurs Monday to Thursday each week when our Senior School Library stays open until 7.00pm. With a couple of tutors available each night to lend a hand, the buzz of completing homework, researching assignments or just studying is great to see!
